Opis ezFEM

ezFEM is a simple Finite Element Method application where you can create 2D structural models with a few clicks/touches. It has a powerful solver that analyzes the structure in a few seconds and a modern user-friendly interface to visualize the results with high-quality graphics and color fields.


The goal of this application is to assist the user in the process of learning and understanding the basic principles of structural analysis and Finite Element Modeling using a highly interactive approach within an user-friendly environment.


HOW DOES IT WORKS?

The structural model is created by placing blocks, loads and supports on a 2D pre-defined grid. The grid has a rectangular shape with a specific number of rows, columns and a fixed cell dimension which can be specified by the user. The blocks, loads and supports are placed by selecting the corresponding tool and simply tapping on the desired cell(s) of the grid. The structural model geometry is restricted to the provided rectangular grid, but by modifying the grid settings the possibilities are endless!


ELEMENTS

Each block on the grid represents a Finite Element and each element has a specific material associated. The user can create and modify multiple materials with their corresponding mechanical properties such as the elastic modulus, poisson ratio and volume density.


LOADS

Pressure loads can be added to the Finite Elements in any on their faces. The magnitude of the loads is defined in their corresponding load case for simplicity. The self-weight is included on a system-defined load cases called Self Weight. The user can define up to 10 different load cases and toggle them on/off during the results visualization.


ANALYSIS

-Four-nodded Finite Elements with plane-stress formulation.

-Linear Elastic Analysis using an optimized sparse matrix solver.


ANALYSIS RESULTS

-Visualization of the deformed configuration with proper scaling for an easy appreciation.

-Color field mapping for the visualization of stresses, displacements, and forces.

-Detailed view of the numerical values of stresses, displacements, and forces at the nodes by tapping on the desired element.

-Available results: Displacements: 𝛿x, 𝛿y. Stresses: σx, σy, σxy (shear), σvm (von misses). Forces: Fx, Fy.
